Access to thousands of data records collected by the Creole Heritage Center since 1998 are in jeopardy of being discarded through recent state budget cuts. Approximately 50,000 to 60,000 individual records have been accumulated. Records consist of oral interviews (transcriptions and audio); conference presentations (transcriptions, video and audio); copies of Creole family history documents (letters, certificates, genealogical and reference listings; contemporary and historical images; Creole language audio and video recordings of individual interviews, Creole Heritage conferences, conventions, public meetings and forums.
